Maidstone: Appeal for witnesses to crash involving motorbike on Tonbridge Road

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious crash in Maidstone which left a biker in hospital.

It happened on the A26 Tonbridge Road yesterday, near Maidstone West Railway Station, at around 5.15am.

A man in his 60s suffered serious injuries after his black motorcycle collided with a grey Volkswagon Polo at the junction with Vine Mews.

He is currently in a London hospital and believed to be in a serious but stable condition.

Police had to close the bridge over the railway line while they dealt with the incident, but one lane reopened at around 8.30am.

There were severe delays throughout Maidstone, particularly during the morning rush hour, but the road was clear by 11am.

Investigating officers would like to hear from anyone with information, who may have seen either vehicle on the lead up to the collision.
