A masked robber stormed a high street bank and threatened staff with a gun this morning.

Police were called to Halifax bank in Sevenoaks High Street just after 10.45am after reports of an armed robbery.

A man reportedly entered the building and demanded money from staff, and threatened them with what is believed to be a hand gun.

Now detectives are appealing for witnesses.

The man is described as wearing a balaclava, or a tightly-drawn hood, and was wearing sunglasses. He left the branch and is believed to have got into a nearby car.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who saw a silver car, possibly a convertible, driving erratically in the High Street and surrounding area at the time.

The last sighting of the vehicle was near to the council building.

No one was harmed during the incident, but staff were left shaken.

Anyone with any information should contact DC Tony Hatcher at Tonbridge police station by calling 01732 379346.

Alternatively, contact Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, quoting incident reference 07-0466.
