Arrest after Maidstone shop and restaurant burglaries

A suspected burglar is in custody after a string of burglaries in Maidstone town centre.

Between May 22 and June 2, seven different shops and restaurants were targeted by thieves.

Just after midnight on Friday morning, police were called to St Faith's Street where a man was said to be acting suspiciously.

The 42-year-old local was arrested on suspicion of burglary and officers seized a mobile phone.

He remains in custody and the investigation continues.

Kent Police is continuing to appeal for witnesses.
