Police were called to a block of flats in the street at around 2pm after reports a window had been deliberately smashed.

A suspect was identified outside the building and during an arrest it is alleged the 37-year-old spat at the officers, striking one on the face and the other on an arm.

It is also claimed he made threats to seriously assault a female police officer, before he was taken into custody and later charged with two counts of assault of an emergency worker and criminal damage.

He was bailed to appear at Maidstone Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, January 18.
