Tonbridge slipped to 18th place in Blue Square Bet South after losing to an 84th-minute goal at strugglers Basingstoke on Saturday.

The match looked set to end in a goalless draw until Simon Dunn fired past Lee Worgan to inflict Angels’ second straight away defeat.

Both sides hit the post in the opening 10 minutes, Dunn for the hosts and George Purcell (pictured) for Tonbridge.

The woodwork came to the visitors’ rescue again just past the half-hour mark after Shaun McAuley’s strike beat Lee Worgan.

Tonbridge had a penalty shout turned down following a tangle between Purcell and Basingstoke defender Ben Jefford.

Angels defender Gary Elphick might have broken the deadlock in the second half but headed straight at keeper Ashley Bayes.
