Beast from the East shuts Kent courtrooms

Trials are being postponed and courtrooms closed as snow, wind and ice continue to plague the county.

Sevenoaks Magistrates Court has been shut, as Storm Emma brings blizzards and snow drifts across the county.

Maidstone Magistrates Court is operating out of one courtroom for today, while Medway Magistrates Court has opened two courtrooms.

Maidstone Crown Court remains open, but no trials are going ahead as jurors struggle to get in.

In Thanet, Margate Magistrates Court remains open, but has already faced a number of adjournments as staff struggle to make it in.

The court had been closed on Tuesday and Wednesday as the Beast from the East landed in Kent.

Canterbury Combined Court and Folkestone Magistrates Court remain open.
