Blaze at farm

About 50 firefighters are tackling a blaze this afternoon at chicken farm buildings.

Crews were called to Frittenden, near Headcorn, at about 11.20am.

Thick smoke is pouring from two outbuildings near the A229 in Cranbook Road.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said 10 fire crews, including two height vehicles, are dealing with a fire in buildings measuring 300 metres by 120 metres.

Witness Joanna Dunmill, 34, said: "It is pretty serious stuff.

"We heard the explosion - it sounded like a volcano going off.

"There is really, really thick black smoke drifting across our home."
