The bodies of a woman and her five-year-old son have been found at the foot of a cliff in Sussex.

It is thought the pair found at Beachy Head, in Eastbourne, are a 42-year-old woman and her son from Maidstone, although police are yet to confirm their identities.

Officers and the coastguard found the bodies at 7am on Monday while a spokesman for Sussex Police said the deaths are not being treated as suspicious.

Inquiries are at an early stage and the spokesman said no further information is available at this time.

Sussex Police launched an almost identical investigation last week after a further three bodies were found at the foot of the chalkface on Wednesday.
