Bomb disposal truck spotted in Sutton Road, Maidstone

A bomb disposal truck has been spotted next to a busy road.

One member of the public pictured the Ministry of Defence vehicle in Sutton Road, Maidstone.

It is parked up on part of the road separated from the main road near the junction with Willington Street.

One witness saw the bomb squad at the scene from midday.

She added: "I walked past again and two national grid vans, six police cars and the bomb disposal squad were still there."

A police spokesman said: "At around 6.30am Kent Police executed a warrant at a residential premises in Sutton Road, Maidstone.

"An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team also attended, as a precaution.

The vehicle is parked near the junction with Willington Street

"No arrests were made. Officers are continuing with their inquiries."

The Ministry of Defence have been contacted for more information.
