Maidstone bomb scare at house in Pope Street after concerns raised about military memorabilia

A bomb disposal squad descended on a Maidstone street this morning after a call from a resident about military items.

Experts were sent to Pope Street at just after 11.40am after a man raised the alarm about plastic explosive materials at the house.

A bomb disposal team visited the property to examine the military memorabilia - and remained at the scene this afternoon - along with police officers.

Bomb disposal experts were called to Pope Street in Maidstone

It is not yet known if any of the items have been found to be dangerous.

The bomb disposal team was from the Royal Logistic Corps.
