Boy rushed to hospital after being knocked off bike by car in Boughton Monchelsea

A boy was rushed to hospital after being hit by a car while riding his bike near Maidstone.

Emergency crews, including the air ambulance, were called to Boughton Monchelsea just before 4.30pm on Monday following a crash in Church Hill, near a primary school.

A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance service said: "We sent crews in two cars and one ambulance to the scene, where the air ambulance also joined us.

"The patient was treated at the scene before being taken by road to King's College Hospital for back and head injuries."

A police spokesperson said the boy's injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

Boughton Monchelsea Primary School has been contacted for comment.
