A child was rushed to hospital after sustaining injuries in a crash involving a car and a bus.

The incident happened on the A274 Sutton Road near Morrisons at around 4.45pm on Sunday and involved a black Toyota Corolla and an Arriva bus.

The front of the car appears to have collided with the side of the bus and the front wheel, causing significant damage to both vehicles.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene where a child received medical attention and was taken to a local hospital. The extent of his injuries are unknown.

No one on the bus was injured.

An Arriva spokesman said: "One of our buses broke down at a bus stop along the A274, towards Park Wood.

"While parked up, waiting for recovery, the bus was hit by a car. Passing officers attended the scene and we’ll support police with any ongoing investigations into the incident."
