Firefighters extinguished a burning bin in a car park in Bull Lane, Eccles, after being called to reports of a flaming car.

People living near the scene called emergency services shortly before 2.30am this morning, reporting a fire which "smelled like a burning car."

Instead, emergency services found a wheelie bin on fire.

Three young men, aged in their twenties, were seen running off in the direction of Mackenders Lane.

One pump from Larkfield attended the blaze and the incident was dealt with in 20 minutes.
