Car crash sparks delays on A229 Blue Bell Hill but all lanes are now clear

Traffic is back to normal after a car crash during rush hour.

The crash happened on the Blue Bell Hill, heading southbound on the A229 after M2 Junction 3, at 7.35am, between Maidstone and Rochester this morning.

A lane was closed while emergency services attended the scene.

Firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment to remove the roof of the car to release a man trapped inside.

Police, the air ambulance and the land ambulance also attended.

A spokesman for police said: "Kent Police was called at 7.10am regarding a report that a car had left the Maidstone-bound carriageway of the A229 Blue Bell Hill near Maidstone.

"Police officers, South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene where a man received medical attention for injuries.

"All lanes are now opened."
