A driver had a lucky escape when her car left the road and rolled onto its roof.

The accident happened along Royal Engineers Road, Maidstone, around 7.30am today (Monday, March 15) on the Maidstone-bound carriageway, between the Running Horse Roundabout, in Sandling, and Invicta Park barracks.

Police said a Toyota appeared to lose control and hit a kerb before colliding with a crash barrier. The vehicle then slid down a bank, ending up on its roof.

The female driver is believed to be unhurt and was helped free from the car by fire crews from Maidstone. She was also seen by ambulance crews.

Police said that traffic is able to pass the accident, but is running slow.
