THE annual Poppy Appeal for the Royal British Legion is receiving a boost this year thanks to a charity concert on Armistice Day.

Maidstone Winds is organising an evening of music at All Saints’ Church, Maidstone, on Saturday, November 11, to commemorate those who died in the First and Second World Wars.

The concert, sponsored by the Kent Messenger Group, will include Sir William Walton’s Battle of Britain Suite, Eric Walters’ Calling All Workers and Kenneth Alford’s popular Colonel Bogey march.

The programme will also feature other songs, marches and music from wartime films.
