A high-speed chase last night saw a driver evade police.

Officers originally attempted to stop the car, a black Jaguar XF, in Maidstone around 10.30pm.

It drove off at speed along the A20, and was pursued as far as the A2 in Gravesend, where it was lost.

Up to seven police cars were involved in the chase.

Police inquiries are ongoing to identify the driver.
