The new hospital at Pembury

With just a month to go until the new Pembury Hospital opens there has been no word yet on any extra bus services.

But the hospital says it is looking at whether volunteers can help run some transport services.

Under its planning permission Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust must have extra public transport in place when the new hospital fully opens on Thursday, September 22.

Sir John Stanley, MP for Tonbridge and Malling (Con) who pushed for the extra services said without any details, he was still sceptical whether the buses would arrive in time.

The trust says it will shortly release details of extra services and is setting aside £2million over the next five years to fund them.
