A world record could be broken at the World Custard Pie Championships tomorrow (Saturday).
The annual event, which will be held at the Stile Bridge Pub, near Marden from noon, will include special guests comedian Rory McGrath and actor Will Mellor.

In addition to flan-flinging and filming for a TV documentary on "eccentric" British pastimes, Mr McGrath is also hoping to break the world record for telling the most jokes in one minute – which stands at 19.
Inspired by this, organisers are also planning to try and break the world record for the most custard pies thrown in a minute.

The event starts at noon, with battle commencing from 2pm, with live music and a hog roast from 6.30pm after the winners' presentations.

The championships have been running since 1967 when they were started by former borough and parish councillor Mike FitzGerald, who is still involved.
