Crews called to woods for dramatic rescue

A man lay in woods for more than five hours after suffering a fall.

Fire crews from Maidstone and a paramedics were called to Boxley woods, off Boxley Road, Maidstone, around 12.30am on Saturday morning.

When they arrived they found a man in his 30s had fallen over and had suffered a back injury. He told emergency services he had fallen over around 7pm on Friday evening.

It is believed a friend had tried to help him before phoning the emergency services.

Maidstone Fire Crews said they had used an inflatable stretcher to lift the man from the woods and he was taken by ambulance to Maidstone Hospital and was admitted around 2.15am.
