Rush hour traffic faced lengthy delays today after a three-car pile-up on the A249.

Police closed the Maidstone carriageway after the collision at 4pm.

The Maidstone-bound A249 slip road from the Bobbing roundabout and the A249 slip from Key Street roundabout were both closed.

But, in a statement released at 5.30pm today, police said the Sittingbourne-bound carriageway was open.

A spokesman warned of considerable traffic delays in the area.

Firefighters, police and ambulance attended the incident, around 200 yards before the Stockbury roundabout.

One person was taken to hospital.
