Dozens of homes were without water today because of a burst water main.

South East Water apologised to people living in the Bearsted, Willington and Parkwood areas of Maidstone who had been without water since about 10am this morning.

At 11.30am, the firm said the repairs to the burst water main was underway and bottled water was available at Bearsted Green.

"An incident team has been set up and will remain in place until the issues are fully resolved.

"Our technicians and repair teams are on site and working as quickly as possible to restore supplies to as many customers as possible."

He added: "At this stage we do not know exactly how many of our customers are without water or have low pressure, but we believe the impact is quite substantial.

"We're really sorry for the disruption."

The firm said drinking water supplies were returning to normal at about 2.30pm and it released a short video to help anyone who was affected and experiencing discolouration or low pressure.
