Armed police and firefighters called to knife drama in Kingswood, Maidstone

Armed police cordoned off part of Pitt Road in Kingswood, Maidstone, in the early hours of this morning (Friday, May 7) after a person with a knife was seen on a roof.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called just after 1am to assist cops at the address.

A spokesman said: "One fire engine attended, however, no action was required from crews."

The fire engine was on site for just over an hour.

Police said officers were called to the address following reports of a domestic disturbance.

Spokesman Andy Saunders said: "It is reported a person linked to the disturbance was in possession of a knife and was on a roof of a property. They came down from the roof at around 2.10am and were taken to hospital."

He added: "Police were assisted at the scene by ambulance and fire crews."
