Firefighters tackled a fire at a property in Tonbridge Road, Maidstone thought to have been caused by an electrical unit

Crews tackled a fire that broke out in a Maidstone home last night.

Firefighters were called to the property in Tonbridge Road just before 8pm after the occupiers smelt burning.

The fire is believed to have started accidentally in an electrical consumer unit located on the ground floor.

A dry powder extinguisher was used to put out the flames and a thermal imaging camera was used to check for other hot spots.

After ventilating the property to clear smoke and fumes crews left the scene just before 9.15pm.
