A driver was taken to hospital after crashing into a bollard at a petrol station on the A249.

Fire fighters, police and paramedics were called to the Shell garage, at the top of Detling Hill in the Maidstone-bound carriageway, at 9.30am.

It was initially feared that a car had crashed into a pump.

The driver has been taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The garage was closed for an hour while the scene was made safe but has now re-opened.
