A former Kent journalist has admitted his involvement in phone hacking today at the Old Bailey.

Ian Edmondson, 45, who used to live in Burham near Maidstone, was accused of conspiring to hack phones when he served as news editor at News of the World.

The charge relates to his time at the paper between October 2000 and August 2006.

Edmondson, who was charged alongside Andy Coulson and Glen Mulcaire, originally denied involvement in phone hacking but today changed his plea.

He has been bailed and will be sentenced in November.
