Fire crews battled car blaze in Wrotham

Fire crews and police deal with a car fire

A burning car partially blocked the A20 in Wrotham for more than four hours.

A Volvo went up in flames half way up Wrotham Hill, just off junction 2a of the M26, yesterday.

Crews from Maidstone and Dartford fire stations were called to the incident on the at 2.40pm.

Firefighters alerted Kent Police shortly after arriving.

The flames were extinguished by 3.15pm but officers stayed at the scene until about 6pm.

One lane heading towards London was closed until the vehicle was recovered at 6.50pm.

No injuries were reported.
