Five-car pile-up on M20 at Aylesford blocks lanes and causes delays for motorists

Motorists travelling on the M20 were facing delays this evening after a five-car pile up on the motorway.

The emergency services were called to the coastbound carriageway of the motorway near Junction 5 for Aylesford and the A20.

Luckily no one has suffered any serious injury as a result of the collision which involved five cars.

The carriageway was partially blocked and traffic was being held back by police.

Congestion was back to Junction 3 the M26 interchange.

A recovery operation is now complete and the road is now said to be clearing.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "Kent Police was called to a collision on the M20 coastbound, near junction 5, at 6.06pm.

"The incident is reported to have involved up to five vehicles and at present no serious injuries have been reported."
