Elmstone Hole Road in Lenham shut due to fly-tipping

A road in Lenham has been closed due to fly-tipping.

The rubbish, which includes bottles, cans, wooden pallets and bin bags was dumped in Elmstone Hole Road last night.

The road has been shut near the junction with Lenham Road while Kent County Council clears the route.

Drivers are being advised to follow a diversion.

Last week we reported on how 56 fly-tipping incidents had been reported in a week.

They including a mound of rubbish dumped outside West Borough Primary School.

The eyesore, off Queen's Road, included a toilet, children's toys, mattresses, garden furniture and bin bags of smashed glass.

It comes as Maidstone Borough Council has decided to save £40,000 by axing its roadside freighter service for bulky items and furniture. The last collection will be on Saturday, May 14.
