Former royal aide in court after absconding from a Kent prison

A murderer who went missing from a Kent open prison last year is due in court today.

Jane Andrews was the target of a nationwide police hunt when she disappeared from East Sutton Park Prison near Maidstone in November.

She was found three days later at a hotel near the County Town.

The former aide to the Duchess of York was moved to the prison after serving eight and a half years for the murder of her boyfriend.

The 42-year-old killed wealthy businessman Tom Cressman in 2001 when he refused to marry her.

She is to appear at Maidstone Magistrates Court charged with absconding from prison.
