MOTE Park women indoor bowls team overcame Teignbridge from Devon 85-73 in the Vivienne Trophy to book their place in the final against Lincoln on Sunday (2.30pm).

Having not reached the semi-final stage of a national competition in the club's history, interest was high, with two coaches of enthusiastic supporters heading off to Southampton, chosen as the neutral venue. Now they face a trip to Kingsthorpe IBC in Northampton - the final's neutral venue.

The game started steadily for the Mote. While an eight-shot advantage had been secured at the completion of five ends, over the four rinks only the one skipped by Audrey Lester had taken a leading position. With the supporters adding their voice, Mote continued to have the upper hand, building up a 12-shot advantage at the 15 ends.

Over the remaining ends the game could have gone either way but the determination shown by all rinks enabled the Mote to hold on to the winning position, eventually getting home by 12 shots.
