Family and friends of Ellis Powell have launched a fund in her memory to help prevent others going through similar heartbreak.

The 21-year-old’s family are asking those who knew the talented dancer to donate to Epilepsy Bereaved instead of flowers at her funeral.

The student, from Grove Green, who was enrolled at Mandy Ellen Performing Arts College in Earl Street, Maidstone, was diagnosed with the condition aged two but managed to control symptoms without it affecting her life.

She died on Wednesday, January 16, after suffering a seizure.

Ellis’s funeral will take place later this week and attendees are set to don bright colours.

If you would like to donate to the family’s chosen charity, see www.justgiving.com/ellispowell
