A 12-year-old girl was assaulted by a stranger as she waited for a bus in the town centre.

The school girl was with a friend waiting for a bus on the steps of HSBC Bank in Maidstone when the man approached her.

He grabbed her hand without her consent and made lewd comments, as she waited with friends for a bus at around 4.30pm on Tuesday, October 7.

The offender was white, around 30 to 40, up to 6ft tall and heavily built. He had blue eyes, bald not shaved hair and was wearing a denim jacket, a white T-shirt and light denim jeans.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or other similar suspicious activity is asked to contact PC Reynolds of Maidstone Police on 01622 604271 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
