Former Maidstone schoolgirl Lizzy Yarnold

Gold medalist Lizzy Yarnold will head back to class next week to meet pupils and staff.

The 25-year-old, who claimed victory in the women's skeleton competition at the Winter Olympics, will visit Maidstone Grammar School for Girls on Tuesday.

It is hoped the Sochi champion, who was a student at the school in Buckland Hill, will take part in a PE lesson after several presentations.

The athlete, from West Kingsdown, is in Kent today to take part in a celebration parade.
