Gourmet Burger Kitchen could be coming to Maidstone after the chain applied to vary opening hours at a premises in the town.

The restaurant is looking to move in to the former Fogo Chophouse in Barker Road's Lockmeadow complex.

It has applied for permission to open from 10am until half past midnight every day in the cinema complex.

The news comes less than a month after the centre announced it will undergo a huge refurbishment.

Fogo Chophouse closed suddenly earlier this year after falling behind with its rent.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen was founded in 2001 and now operates almost 80 restaurants across the country, including ones at Bluewater and Canterbury.
