A greasy pan overheated and sparked a fire at a care home in Penenden Heath, Maidstone.

The hot pot started a small fire in the kitchen of the property, in Boxley Road, just before midnight.

An automatic fire alarm at the home alerted firefighters, who rushed to building but the flames were out when they arrived.

Firefighters were called to the scene. Stock picture.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "The fire was caused by overheated grease in a pan. The automatic fire alarm raised the alarm."
