Heavy rain over the Easter weekend has prompted the Environment Agency to issue a flood warning for the lower River Medway.

The agency says flooding is possible today from Hampstead lock at Yalding to Allington lock, including East Farleigh, Wateringbury, Teston and Teston Park.

Millennium Park in Maidstone could also be affected.

Heavy rainfall has sparked the warning (1357276)

In a statement, the agency said: "Periods of wet weather across the Easter weekend have caused levels in the River Medway to rise.

"This flood alert is focused on the River Medway between East Farleigh and Allington lock, including Maidstone, where levels are high and will remain so throughout the day.

"No property flooding is expected but some riverside pathways may be impassable during Tuesday, April 3.

"The forecast is for further showers at times today, which will lead to the peak level in Maidstone occurring around mid-afternoon."
