The date of a High Court wrangle over funding of a feasibility study for a key road project has been revealed.

Maidstone Borough Council had sought a judicial review of Kent County Council's use of Section 106 contributions.

KCC had asked the local authority to release £200,000 to go towards modelling the Leeds-Langley bypass.

However, MBC argued that the county council had siphoned off money intended to fund improvements to Sutton Road.

A judge threw out Maidstone’s application in July and the town hall was told to fork out £9,000 in legal costs - a move that angered a number of councillors.

The High Court hearing into the matter will be held on March 21.

Cllr Martin Cox, the leader of the borough council, said: "We hope that this matter can be resolved before the forthcoming hearing in March.

"Throughout this process we have remained open to all discussions and negotiations with KCC and will continue to do so for the benefit of all residents across the borough."

Kent County Council has been approached for a comment.
