Police closed off a village centre when a hoaxer claimed there was a man in the area with a gun.

Several police cars sealed off the centre of Lamberhurst near Tunbridge Wells this afternoon, at just before 3pm, after receiving the call.

No-one was allowed into the centre, including on foot. This included parents collecting children from the nearby primary school.

Police reopened the road at just after 3.30pm.
