Laddingford: Homes evacuated and road closed after crash sparks gas leak

A number of homes have been evacuated near Maidstone this afternoon following a gas leak.

Officers have put in place a road closure on Lees Road, Laddingford following a crash at 12.38pm.

Only one vehicle was involved in the collision, which sparked the leak by crashing into equipment connected to the local gas supply.

A police spokesperson said: "Several homes have been evacuated as a precaution and a gas engineer is currently at the scene."

There were no injuries as a result of the collision.
