Kent sizzled on the hottest September day for seven years yesterday - but woke to cooler temperatures today.
The Met Office said Frittenden, near Staplehurst, recorded Britain's warmest temperature at 30.2C.
It was just 0.3 degrees behind the nation's seven-year September high of 30.5C recorded in 2006.
However, forecasters said it will be much cooler in the county today , with outbreaks of heavy rain and highs of 21C.
Sunshine and showers are predicted for over the weekend , with highs of 20C.
