Conservative leader David Cameron has supported calls from disabled and elderly residents in Maidstone for the restoration of council travel vouchers.

Mr Cameron hit the local election campaign trail in Maidstone yesterday.

During the visit he met disabled clients of Age Concern, who told him they get no benefit a national free bus pass scheme.

Mr Cameron said: "The free bus pass is a great idea but if it means you are going to have to get rid of the tokens for the disabled and elderly who like using them on Age Concern buses or taxis to get around, that is not exactly social progress."
