A teenager who jumped to her death 15 years after surviving a seven-storey fall in her mother's arms died from severe head injuries, a court has heard.

Yazmina Howard, 18, from Maidstone, died on October 2 after jumping from the Lunsford Lane bridge which crosses the M20 at Larkfield.

Tragically, her mother, Maxine Carr, also jumped to her death in 2003, clutching hold of three-year-old Yazmina as she leapt from her flat in London Road.

Yazmina Howard was remembered by her grandparents as "beautiful, inside and out"

The toddler miraculously escaped alive, but suffered a number of broken bones in her arm, rib and jaw and damage to the back of her skull.

However, Yazmina tragically fell to the same fate earlier this month, just days after having to be talked down from the same bridge.

Her grandmother, Janet Howard, who adopted Yazmina as her own following the tragedy, described her as "a beautiful girl, inside and out."

Opening an inquest at the Archbishop's Palace in Maidstone, coroner Bina Patel said: "I offer my personal condolences to the grandparents and family of Miss Howard."

A full inquest was adjourned until January 7.
