Traffic is backing up on a main road in Maidstone due to a broken down car.

Police were called to the north-bound carriageway of the A229, by the Shell garage at Blue Bell Hill, at 3pm this afternoon.

The road was closed and one lane remains shut, leaving tailbacks for commuters travelling towards Medway.
