Maidstone Bridges gyratory system lane closure

By: Suz Elvey

Published: 08:00, 08 January 2017

One lane of the Maidstone Bridges system will be closed for a day while additional work is carried out on the path and verge.

Lane one of the southbound stretch that goes from Fairmeadow into Bishops' Way will be shut from 9am to 3.30pm on Monday (January 9).

The work is the final part of a £5.7million project that started in June and saw two new lanes added northbound allowing traffic heading towards Blue Bell Hill to avoid the bridges system.

The new layout officially opened on December 1. Picture: Andy Jones

Kent County Council hoped the works would shave 74 seconds off journey times along the A20 Broadway and A229 Bishops Way.
