A large sharp knife was among the items recovered by a borough councillor during a litter pick.
The blade was found close to Maidstone's high level rail bridge in the centre of town.
Cllr Tony Harwood said: "This popular pedestrian route is used by hundreds of children on their walk to and from school.
"To dispose of such a dangerous implement in such a location is criminally reckless."
The blade was recovered alongside nitrous oxide (laughing gas) cylinder.
Cllr Harwood added: "The quantity and variety of litter I retrieve on my daily clean-ups is becoming grimmer and more sinister every time – it's emblematic of our broken County Town."
