The busy A229 was shut this morning between Maidstone and Staplehurst after a crash that left a man trapped in his car.

About half a mile of the main road was closed between The Stile Bridge pub, at the junction with Stilebridge Lane, and Millbrook Garden Centre, after the turning for the B2079.

The road has now reopened but Kent Highways have advised drivers to approach with caution as there is still diesel on the road.

The teen was arrested yesterday.

Emergency services were called at 7.30am after the one-vehicle collision.

The car had left the road and overturned but the man is only believed to have suffered minor injuries.

Queues built up along the A229 as far back towards Maidstone as Linton and Loose but Kent Highways said these have now cleared.
