This is why the M25 at junction 5 was closed

Drivers were stuck in travel chaos this morning after a fuel tanker fire closed the M25.

The road was shut clockwise at Junction 5, Sevenoaks, for the M26 causing seven miles of queues.

Motorists were stuck in delays for up to 90 minutes.

Firefighters tackled the blaze after receiving a 999 call from the driver of the fuel tanker just before 6am.

The road reopened four hours after the blaze broke out.

Highways England warned drivers to avoid the area if possible, and a diversion via the A21 southbound was put in place.
