Drivers are facing long delays after a crash brought traffic to a standstill on the M20.

The motorway was blocked for almost an hour when a vehicle caught as a result of a collision with a lorry.

Firefighters were called to tackle the blaze, which happened in the middle lane London-bound between Junction 7 (Detling Hill) and Junction 6 (Blue Bell Hill).

It happened at around 6.15pm.

A police spokesman said: "Officers are currently at the scene alongside crews from Kent Fire and Rescue Service, who are tending to the involved car after it caught fire.

"At present, no injuries have been reported."

Highways England says the vehicles have since been moved to the hard shoulder and all lanes re-opened at around 7.10pm.

A spokesman said: "Over three-and-a-half miles of congestion remains in the area but this should now start to ease."
