Maidstone United caretaker manager Jay Saunders says he has no plans to make wholesale changes to the side, despite revealing his phone had been busy with requests from players wanting to play under him.

Saunders, pictured, took over on Thursday following Andy Ford's resignation after Tuesday night's 1-0 defeat at home to Croydon Athletic and said: "I think we need to keep as settled a side as possible.

"I don’t envisage too many changes unless, of course, there is a player who could be a great benefit to us.

"There are a few young lads lacking confidence because of the run we’ve had but I want to make it more enjoyable and get everyone pulling in the right direction.

"I’ll change the formation, too. We need to score goals so we’ll not go with one up front, we’ll go with a 4-4-2 for the most part – I want to see us having a go at teams."

Stones host Ryman League Premier Division play-off chasing Billericay on Saturday before a daunting trip to title-chasing Lowestoft on Tuesday.
